Sorry for the long wait! I had meetings all last week and an unexpected crisis that set me back a few days. I'm gradually getting there, though.
Second year courses are finished, and grades are posted.
English 150 - section 19 (evening class) will be posted tonight (appearing tomorrow) and section 11 (afternoon class) will be posted tomorrow (appearing Thursday). Please understand that I can not send individual results until I have finished, tabulated and posted everything, and I will not respond to requests for same until I've finished everything else. Papers can be picked up after about 11:00 am on Thursday (office Paul 320). I'm in for a meeting and will leave them outside my door ONLY for that afternoon. After 3:30 I'll return them to my office, and you can collect them in January. I will try and send individual blog and exam results via LJ mail after I've done everything else.
Exams will not be returned.

Welcome to both my English 150 and 286 students. Remember to "friend" me once you've signed up for a blog. Any class-specific postings will be locked, so you must be my "friend" in order to be able to read messages and for me to find you!
I've had such a good time this term, that end of term was almost bitter-sweet. It's nice to finish, but I wish sometimes for full year courses so that we could continue the relationship. Oh well, some are joining me again next term. Thanks to everyone for making this such a great few months!

Snow-dog

What fun! Robinson, my younger beardie, loves the snow, as you can see. It's good to stay home with a clear conscience, too :) If the college is open on Tuesday, I'll try to make it in - I may have to bus it, with many of you, I guess. Do we hope that it snows more so that the college will still be closed tomorrow??
This just about sums it up

And, no, I'm not feeling that cynical! I just love Calvin and Hobbes.

![]() Congratulations on your multifarious vocabulary! You must be quite an erudite person. |
One of my "friends" on my other LJ account wrote this: "what the hell: you're only young once. And in my case, that was some time ago and I can be immature if I want to."
My sentiments exactly!

This is so therapeutic. Make your own masterpiece! Note: click to change colours.
Just wanted to say how impressed I am with how good all the blog entries are. After bitching and moaning early in the term, I've been very happy with the way everyone is writing in their blog. In a perfect world, I'd like a little more interaction and commenting, but the entries themselves are all that I could wish for! Thought you might like to know :)
To continue today's link-athon, Wired magazine recently asked a number of prominent writers to compose short stories in 6 words. The results are often delightful. I particularly like Ursula Le Guin's.
Some items of interest (to me, anyway, and possibly to

Google has just acquired JotSpot. What will they do next?Really, all they need is a blogging platform and they'll (edit - I'm reminded by a commenter that, of course, they already own Blogger!) They NOW literally have the whole Web 2.0 thing covered. JotSpot is a terrific tool, and the only reason that I've not used it in my teaching before now is that the free model only allowed 7 users; beyond that number and it was hideously expensive. But now, they say they'll not be charging any more! New accounts have been frozen pro tem, but happily I have one already.
Brian Lamb reports on a new Wiki/Book/something or other, which, whatever it is, looks to be very interesting. Using Wiki in Education is a combination book, wiki, project, not sure what, but in any case collects case studies of folks using wikis in education and presumably other info about teaching etc. The only snag from my pov so far is that when you sign up with "Google Checkout" (there they go again!) to buy full access to it (at $19.95 US, it's very reasonable) "Canada" does not appear in their "location" field, which meant that for the moment at least I can't pay for it. Have query in with Google - seems odd that you can buy it from Cambodia but not from Canada!
